Yanagiya Honten Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Toike) held the “7th Black Hair Awards presented by Yanagiya Apricot Oil” ceremony to honor “those who look great with black hair today” in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo on Tuesday, May 14, 2024. Anna Ishii (left), an actress, won the award. She was presented for exceeding the criteria for selection, which were having beautiful black hair, an image of a pure person, and a cheerful personality. Hikaru Takahashi (right), an actress and the 2017 award winner, appeared as the presenter.

Hikaru Takahashi, an actress, is the image character of the Yanagiya Apricot Oil brand and the 2017 Black Hair Award recipient. She made an appearance at the ceremony and presented the award on behalf of the company. Anna Ishii received the trophy from Hikaru Takahashi and said, “I am honored to receive the Black Hair Award. I have had black hair for most of the past 25 years. I am glad that I kept my black hair even when I was a member of E-girls (a Japanese female group that sings and dances) and when I was surrounded by many people with lighter hair color,” expressing her joy. Hikaru Takahashi praised Anna Ishii and responded, “When I heard that my friend Ishii-san, who I call An-chan, was the award recipient, I thought she deserved it. She looks very nice with her beautiful shiny hair today, too!”

Black Hair Award

The Black Hair Award is an award that honors the beauty of “the person who looks best with black hair today.” It was established in 2015 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Yanagiya Honten, to proclaim the beauty of Japanese black hair not only in Japan but also to the world, to protect its cultural value, and to pass it on to the next generation. The winners are selected based on three criteria: having healthy and beautiful black hair, the image of pureness coming from within, and a strong spirit ready to face challenges with a cheerful personality. The previous award winners are Umika Kawashima, Hikaru Takahashi, Nanako Fujita, Yuno Ohara, Miyu Honda, and Ayaka Imoto.

高橋ひかる2nd Black Hair Award winner (2017)
Born on September 22, 2001, in Shiga Prefecture.
In 2014, she won the “14th Japan Bishojo Contest” Grand Prix and made her acting debut in the movie The Promise of Life. Later, she made her first drama appearance in Naotora: The Lady Warlord. Major appearances in recent years include the dramas Murai in Love (TBS), Halation Love (EX), Living-Room Mastunaga-san (KTV/CX), and the stage play Ano Yoru de Aetara. In the movie Akabane Honeko no Bodyguard, which will be released nationwide on Friday, August 2, 2024, she plays the role of Nei Togeya, the heroine of Honeko’s best friend and bodyguard.

She made her acting debut in 2012. In 2015, she won the “58th Blue Ribbon Award for Best Newcomer” and has appeared in various movies, dramas, and commercials. She has also appeared in commercials for the taxi app “GO” and “National Truck Traffic Mutual Aid.” Last year, she played the difficult character of Riko Kumazawa in the YTV Platinum Night Drama (late-night drama), The Crimes of Those Women. This year, in January, she played the triple lead role in the TV Tokyo Drama Premier 23 (late-night drama) Black Girls Talk. She is appearing in the currently airing Fuji TV drama Blue Moment and will play the role of the heroine, Mika, in the reading drama Koizora (Sunday, June 9, @THEATRE 1010).
